 The Things We Carried is an interactive exhibit that portrays through artifacts, artwork and personal dialogue the historical and personal war experience of the Vietnam soldier. The exhibit features the actual articles and gear carried and used by both the Viet Cong and US troops in the Vietnam War, as well as maps, photographs and artwork which visually conveys the utilization and the emotional and physical weight of the things the soldiers actually carried. Participants in the exhibit can augment their visit by arranging for the irreplaceable personal narration of a Vietnam Veteran’s war experience for group visits through the education program, and revisit or discover Tim O’Brien’s award-winning book, The Things They Carried.
